![]() The results revealed that the acculturation strategies employed by the students in acquainting to the host culture have amplified their intercultural communication competence hence, making them to be more culturally sensitive. These established dimensions were measured by adapting Berry’s Acculturation Framework (1997). Thus, this study is aimed to probe the perceptions of international students towards the perceived nuances of communication competence, acculturation attitude and language acculturation. Various studies reported that intercultural communication competence (ICC) is one of the exogenous factors for adaptation to exist. Numerous researches have established that it is more susceptible for the international students to create their own circle and be detached from the local community consequently, leads to social and cultural disassociation from host countries. However, cross-cultural adjustment for international students can be challenging. To be competitive globally, many universities open their doors to international students to fashion diversity to university’s settings, which in turns enriches and enhances university’s experiences for students. The demand for higher education institutions to internationalize their practices is an indication of rapid globalization and transformation processes, contributing to change the of existing education system landscape. Communication also has a role in creating harmony because the basic condition of interaction is the existence of communication.Keywords : coordinated management of meaning The results show that Hindu groups in Lombok live in the Lingsar region and in the area get along well because there are several factors, namely time, intermarriage, religion, and interaction. Research data was obtained from interviews and observations. This research was conducted with qualitative methods with a case study approach. This study examines how harmony can be created there and how the role of communication in creating harmony and communication between the two groups of different religions. Based on the data obtained, Lombok is the city with the highest level of tolerance. ![]() The Lombok region which is the majority inhabited by Muslim communities can live in harmony and side by side with Hindu community. One of the key variables in fostering and realizing harmony is tolerance. It is not easy to reach a harmonious society in a multicultural country, the absence of good communication between stakeholders and groups that are related can create conflict. This is realized by first advancing an inter-paradigmatic discussion of culture-communication research dialectics and then considering its theoretical relevance and practical applications in English language teaching. ![]() This article (a) makes a case for the usefulness of incorporating multiple epistemological stances in order to develop more comprehensive insights about interculturality, (b) argues that, by developing pluriversal perspectives, we can simultaneously consider the multiplicity of individuals’ ontologies, identities, and cultures. The dialectic perspective, with its inclusiveness of varying discursive reasonings, can offer a discerning treatment of interculturality through reconciling the opposing dialectics in intercultural communication scholarship. Questioning singularity of approaches in the intercultural language education is required to account for the complexity of intercultural interactions, especially in terms of power imbalances. The failure to take into account power imbalances among Anglophone and Southern spaces may perpetuate the inequalities that have long-existed. Conceptualizations of intercultural communication in English language teaching have largely been constructed on westerncentric and essentialist representations of interculturality.
